Add News Help

The ADD NEWS section allows users to add a news story to the database.

News stories comprise of:
(* = required information)

Location - If the news item relates to the Arena Group as a whole then choose "All Arenas" from the drop-down list. If the item is specific to one arena then choose the relevant arena from the drop-down list. If in doubt select "All Arenas".

News Date - This is the date the news was issued (If in doubt then today's date should be entered). The date format is [yyyymmdd], so if the date is 1st June 2006 then the date should be entered as 20060601.

Headline - This is the headline for the news story and should be kept brief.

Main Text - This is the main body of the news story. Users can 'cut and paste' to here from other documents.

Main Image - This is the picture that accompanies the news story. Use the BROWSE button to locate the required image on your harddrive. The image is uploaded automatically when the "Add News Item" button is pressed. Images should be around 120pixels wide by 200pixels tall and should be either in jpeg or gif format. Filesize should be under 200kb.

2nd Image - This is the smaller picture (thumbnail) which accompanies the news headline when a number of news stories are listed together. It can be a copy of the main image, but resized to 80pixels in width. Use the BROWSE button to locate the required image on your harddrive. The image is uploaded automatically when the "Add News Item" button is pressed. It should be either in jpeg or gif format and filesize should be under 120kb.

External Site -The title of an external website where additional information relating to the news item can be found. This field may be left blank.

External Site Link - The address of the external site. e.g. If the external site is "www.extraInformation.com" then type: "http://www.extrainformation.com". If news story is being taken from an outside source then the required address is usually stated. This field may also be left blank.

If a news story is added by mistake, it can be removed using Delete a news item or may be edited using Edit a news item.
